Using Alt key in autocorrect

i remember using the alt key to insert math characters in word (e.g, i can
press alt and g together and autocorrect will change it to gamma).. i dont
know how to do it, so please help

You could do that by creating your own keyboard shortcuts by opening
Insert Symbol and finding the characters you want.

Or else, it's a special feature of the Equation Editor or maybe an add-
in program.
