How to open Word file made on Mac?
Retropia 12/7/2008 9:32:00 PM
I have Word for Windows, both 2003 and 2007. A client has Word for Mac,
which I think is 2004. When I try to open one of her files, all it shows is
a bunch of coding. Any suggestions?

Download the Word Viewer here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=95e24c87-8732-48d5-8689-ab826e7b8fdf&displaylang=en

It will open the Mac file, no problem. Then you can copy the text and paste
it in Word for Windows.

That doesn't seem to do the trick. The Viewer does the same thing Word does;
it pops up a screen that says "Select the encoding that makes your document
readable." None of the options make it readable; it's all just a bunch of
coding.

I'm going to operate on the assumption that the client files have been
corrupted somehow and see if I can come up with a workaround solution. (I
know this isn't the complete answer because the files can be viewed on a
friend's Mac.) Thanks for the suggestion, though.
