file name & path

Good morning,

In Word 03 I was able to have the file name & path inserted as a
header/footer in any document. In Word 2007 only file name appears to be
available in the same option area. Has the path insertion bit been dropped
or is it still available in a different menu area? Many thanks any info.

Word 2007 has gone to a lot of trouble to hide things. It's a little
game of hide and seek.

Here's how you find the filename field and use the path option:

1. Open up the header or footer (or wherever esle you want the field).

2. Click on the Insert tab on the ribbon.

3. Click on the Quick Parts drop down in the Text section. (How comew
that wasn't obvious to you? ;-)

4. Click on the Field option.

5. Scroll down to Filename in the Field Names panel (or type "f").

6. Check the "Add path to filename" option in the upper right hand
corner.

7. Click OK.

Easy huh?

You got two answers in the docmanagement newsgroup. Please don't post the same
question in multiple places -- it just wastes our time and yours.

Got that far, & down to the filename part but just didn't notice the
upper right hand option to add path, don't even have a patch on my right eye
either, and I looked so many times, thank you so much, you've no idea how
helpful that is.
