Location of normal.dotm file in Office 2007 "W Wolfe" <william.wolfe[ at ]ieee.org> 11/6/2008 3:20:25 PM I keep My Documents on E: drive and have set the Word options to find My Documents there. When I start Word it cannot find the normal.dotm file. It is located on the C: drive in the normal location, but Word does not access it when starting. What is the solution?

If Options are not being correctly configured it is probable that the Word Data key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Data is corrupt. Rename or delete it and see if that improves things. If there is no normal.dotm in the user templates folder when you open Word it will create one. Set Word Options >Advanced >Save to prompt you to save the normal template on closing. Do you then get a prompt to save normal.dotm?
