Winword slow opening docs on network

I have seen a number of issues related to the problem I put before you,
however, noone seems to have mentioned that if you open Winword.exe
(Office 2003) then attempt to open the file on a network drive...it
opens instantaniously...leaving me to think, what is word up to?

We've tried a couple of things to monitor the processes/actions that
winword is taking during the opening...using filemon...but still
nothing unusually at all...

(Anyway, to put things backwards) The problem is when using Win2003,
attempting to open a file across a network drive/share is "sluggish"

A lot of replies posted on this issue, suggest a problem with the
templates. Yet all templates are localised on the PC...

and like i mentioned above...having winword running...and then
selecting a file, opens instantly. however, when using the file>open
dialogue....it seems sluggish still..

do you guys get a similar/same pattern when winword is running.

if i use

winword "G:\filepath\filename.doc" /a

the file opens without any problems, even a 32mb document...

So, it is todo with my templates...but they're configured locally?!

I've a similar problem.
I Think that the cause is because i made my documents based on a template
who was localized in a non existing server.
I would know a solution for thousands of similar documents.
The fact is that when i remove in the document the location of the template
it opens quikly.
Maby have a option in winword for deactivate that for all documents
