BCM Sync Issue
Scott Bowden 10/7/2008 7:23:01 PM
I have a remote user who can not sync with the master database. His laptop is
running XP SP3. The database is housed on Server 2003. When he unchecks the
"work offline", it attempts to sync his changes. It analyzes the changes, the
asks how to resolve the conflicts (he chooses shared and then do this for all
conflicts), then applies changes to the database. After applying all of his
changes, it comes back with the message that "Going online has been
cancelled, but you can continue to work in the offline database". It does not
get any updates from the master database.

We have had nothing but problems with offline databases, so maybe we're got
something setup wrong (but I don't think we do).

Any suggestions?

Turn on logging and see if the log has additional information.

OK... I turned on logging but the log is in Greek! I do see an error at the
end right before it cancels the sync that says:

[E] [10:59:50.4474372]Microsoft.Iris.ImportExportDataAccess: Exception
creating campaign: The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure
call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Too many parameters were provided in
this RPC request. The maximum is 2100.

save Marketing Campaign, The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote
procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Too many parameters were
provided in this RPC request. The maximum is 2100..
[E] [10:59:50.5099388]Microsoft.Iris.ImportExportDataAccess: Message:The
incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol
stream is incorrect. Too many parameters were provided in this RPC request.
The maximum is 2100.

Campaign, The incoming tabular data stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC)
protocol stream is incorrect. Too many parameters were provided in this RPC
request. The maximum is 2100..
[E] [10:59:50.5568150]Microsoft.Iris.ImportExport: ImportFatalException
during syncing, Unable to save Marketing Campaign, The incoming tabular data
stream (TDS) remote procedure call (RPC) protocol stream is incorrect. Too
many parameters were provided in this RPC request. The maximum is 2100..

Based on the error log, it looks like it is sending his changes to the
master database, but is erroring out when he tries to download updates from
the master database.

Looks like something Microsoft will have to fix.

Hi Scott
This was actually fixed in Business Contact Manager 2007 SP1 update. Have
you updated to SP1 yet? if not then please download it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=94C32ABF-5481-460D-805D-6C274AC1D194&displaylang=en

if you are still seeing the same problem, please do let me know.

Thanks

Hello Vinit. I am having this same issue ("going online cancelled"). Both
computers are running vista and do have BCM SP1 installed.

Can you help?

UPDATE: Vinh, after thinking a bit, I remembered we made numerous ([ at ]150)
changes in the offline database after discovering that we were inadvertantly
"checking" a wrong field (both fields = Yes/No w/icon). Thinking that this
may be "overloading" the update some how, I went in to the main database to
make the same changes (unchecking one, then checking the other). The sync
proceed with no troubles after this!!!! Is there some rule to remember? i.e.
number of changes allowed in offline database?

:)

I have made sure I have SP1, but I'm having the same issue. The same error
message appears. This happened yesterday, but the problem went away when I
rebooted. Today I've rebooted 3 times, and the same problem. Now BCM isn't
even detecting the online database until I force it to. Thanks in advance
for your help.

Yes, I do have SP1 installed... Now, I'm also getting it on a user that does
not have a offline database (i.e. always connected to the database). She
received this error after sending out an email marketing campaign to 1700
people.

Any ideas?
