That is exactly correct. I had to uninstall the version that came with the system. And that uninstall doesn't specifically state it is uninstalling OneNote - it says something more generic like "Home and Student Office".
Now if I could just get my OneNote 2003 files imported into this version - since I didn't do an upgrade (the difference in price was $10 - so I left the other one on my previous laptop) - I can find no way to import them.
