Retail licenses for Office 2007 suites and standalone apps allow you to install on one desktop and one portable device at the same time. You can view the software license terms in the Help menu/About Microsoft Office <application name> window in any of the office applications. You can also see them online here http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/HA102103171033.aspx. What do you mean by 'didn't work' when you tried using the key on your laptop? Did you get an error entering the key or when you tried to activate Office, or something else? If you got an error, what's the error?
