How do I insert musical symbols using Word 2003?
|
|
Use a font that contains the symbols. If you don't have one, search the web for one to purchase.

My copy of Word 2000 came with a font called Helsinki Metronome, which seems to be musical symbols but which I can't make appear on the screen, and another called Reprise Text - also musical notes and symbols, but this one works.
I'm not sure I'd want the hassle of trying to put together even a short length of actual music, though; I imagine that there are dedicated add-ons for that.

That font was never offered with Word regardless of version.

Which font? I mentioned two. I must have got them from somewhere and certainly didn't deliberately obtain them myself; perhaps they were simply part of Windows XP.

Neither. Nor were they offered with Windows XP or any other Microsoft offering.
Many programs come with fonts, even some printers.

Ah, then that's a possibility. Thanks. I wonder why the first one I mentioned, Helsinki Metronome, doesn't appear to work, though.

No clue. Never heard of that font nor have I ever needed a musical note font. (I sing fine in my car, my shower, and my mind - that's the extent of my musical talent.)

If that was directed at me, then yes, I believe it is: the solution to the puzzle seems to be that not every key on the keyboard produces a result: some (the ones I tried, obviously) are blank. Others do indeed produce musical notes and other symbols.
Whether this will be of any use to Grandlife B, I don't know, but it might at least be a start.

I can honestly say that although I am a fontaholic, there are no fonts installed in my car, my shower, or my mind.
