I have been searching for information on performing a mail merge and using stamps.com for postage and all I found as answers to questioners was some snippy responses that the questioner should ask the postage provider.
I do intend to ask Stamps.com but I need some guidance from Microsoft as well. I would assume that Microsoft knows Word 2007 better than does Stamps.com.
I did find one instruction in "the help and how to" section on how to use electronic postage with Word 2003 but since I have never used Word 2003 I can't relate that to Word 2007. If you could do it for Word 2003 can't you do it for Word 2007? Am I looking in the wrong place? If so, can someone tell me where to look? If there really is no info in Microsoft about this shouldn't there be?

Note that when you ask here, you're not asking Microsoft -- you're asking people who use Word and may have dealt with the same questions you're now facing.
See whether stamps.com doesn't have a FAQ about working with Word2007 -- after all, a lot of their customers have had to make the switch.

From what I can see from a brief scan of the stamps.com site, the expectation is that you will use the stamps.com software to print the postage; one page does say you can print the address and postage at the same time. If there's any integration with Word, I didn't see any evidence of it.

But if Microsoft went to the trouble of setting up instructions for Word 2003, doesn't anyone agree that they should do the same for Word 2007? From what I can see there seems to be a big lack of info on this. Stamps.com's info is also about Word 2003. And they tell me they are a Microsoft company.

Google turns up something at http://stamps-com-support-for-microsoft-word-20.software.informer.com/ that may be helpful (claims to apply to Word 2007). According to http://safari.oreilly.com/059652739X/word2007tmm-CHP-12-SECT-6, you can find the E-postage Properties button at Mailings | Create | Envelopes. Is your problem starting when you click this button?
And according to Word's Help on this topic:
If you have access to electronic postage, for example if you purchased it from a service on the World Wide Web, you can add it to your envelope. How?
1.. Select the Add electronic postage check box. If you do not have an electronic postage program installed, Microsoft Word prompts you to install one and offers to connect to the Microsoft Office Online Web site. There you can get more information and links to other sites that offer electronic postage.
2.. To set options for the electronic postage programs that are installed on your computer, click E-postage Properties.

When you install the stamps.com software it asks you which applications you wish to print postage from. Microsoft Outlook 2000 - 2007 and Microsoft Word 2000 - 2007 are both listed. Just check their boxes during installation. After restaring your system, go to:
Mailings > Create > Envelopes Tick the box tro add electronic postage, then click the Electrinic Postage button and enter your astamps.com username and password.

Looks like we're screwed on using Stamps.com with Microsoft Word 2007 for now. If you'll go to this link- http://www.stamps.com/support/features/integrations/other/ and click the "compatability" link on that page, you'll see EVERY other version of Word listed as compatabile EXCECT '07 !!! I'm assuming Stamps.com is working on the problem but who knows.

I have several customers using stamps.com with Microsoft Word/Office 2007 with full integration and no issues at all.
