inconsistent email linking

We have a shared database and email linking is turned on. Each user links
contacts as they are entered. Once in awhile we will find a contact for whom
all links are turned on but an email is missing from the history. When the
sent item is searched - for some reason it hasn't linked to the contact - why
does this happen? It undermines confidence in BCM.

Yes, I have same issue. Suspected that such behaviour can be caused by some
symbols in email address fields or other reasons.

So from time to time I make full "re-linking" of email database, though this
is quite lengthy process (may take whole night or more, BCM 2003 was much
faster)

I see the exact same thing. I also think it has something to do with certain
extra characters in an email field, like when emails show up like this:

Smith, Joe [joe.smith[ at ]abc.com]

It doesn't seem to matterif you even have that exact syntax in your linking
form either. Would love to hear from an MVP here.
