I'd like to create outlines with links to saved files, with the links being text, like a hperlink to open the file. Is there another way to do this? AG

My suggestion would be to put all your files in one directory (with subdirectories) and just link to the Appropriate subdirectory. If you want to replicate this ever important directory you should try Foldershare.com to synch your PCs. It would also serve as a backup solution. Good luck.
