If you install 2007 Trial, can you upgrade later
Alfred Kaufmann <al_kaufmann[ at ]hotmail.com> 4/26/2007 11:29:04 PM
Right now I have Office XP and Frontpage 2003 installed and I am
wondering what happens if I try the Office 2007 trial. If I decide to
buy it, will I be forced to buy the full version or can I still do the
upgrade thing? I do have all the original CDs.

You can use the upgrade because you own Office XP.

Yes, you can purchase the upgrade, but if you want to keep using the
older version, you need to purchase the full version. See this article
for licensing details on two versions...assuming you may want to keep
the old one running while you learn the new one???

Thanks for the information but I don't want to run multiple versions
of office at the same time. I tried installing this trial but 5
minutes after the install I uninstalled it and then just to be sure no
little gems were left behind, I restored too. :-)

The only reason I looked at this upgrade was because Outlook 2002 SP3
seems to have a few problems with Vista and the trial installed
everything BUT Outlook 2007.

I guess I should have been more clear: If I try this Office 2007 and
decide not to go with it, will a PST file created with Outlook 2007 be
able to be imported with Outlook 2002 SP3?

Okay, to be honest with you...I'm not sure.

I would THINK so, but since I haven't tried it, I can't say for sure.
Sorry for missing the point. I'd suggest you repost with the info
below to clarify and also so people see your new post and don't miss
this new Q.

In fact, I'd actually suggest you try posting this specific Q to the
Outlook group, where there's a better chance that those folks have
tried this.

Good luck and sorry I couldn't provide a solid answer for you!
