Office 2007 - Saving Files in Office 2003 Format?
Charliec <charliec[ at ]invalid.address.com> 6/19/2007 1:56:20 AM
I'm installing Office 2007 Small Business, but most of the people I
share files with will remain on Office 2003 for awhile. Is there a
way in Office 2007 to have the various programs default to saving the
file in Office 2003 format?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes - in Excel (for example) go to Office Button-Excel Options-Save and in
the top drop-down box choose .xls as the default save.....

This will just change the default save format for Excel. You also need
to do the same in each of the Office applications.

Ok, thanks, got it! Thanks for the replies.

One other question - I would like my default font to be Time New Roman
/ 12 in Word. How does one change the default font in Word 2007. I
looked thru the book that can with Office and looked thru the Options
in Word, but could not seem to fine it.

Thanks for any insights.

1. Press Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S (Styles task pane--or, click the launcher in the
Styles section of the Home tab).

2. Click the Manage Styles dialog at the bottom of the Styles task
pane.(That's the r/hand little logo...)

3. In Manage Styles, click the Set Defaults tab. Make your changes to the
Font

4. At the bottom, click New documents based on this template

Is there a way to enforce this as we need to roll this out to a network with
200+ clients? A policy or another setting that either sets default save as
2003-mode or prevents users from saving in the new format all together?

Any help appriciated!
