BCM instal on longhorn server ?!?
Pierre D. 4/30/2007 9:04:00 AM
Hi,

I had to re-install a server. First I made a 2003 and upgrade to longhorn.
Install office 2007 and BMC (and connect it to sql2005). All was working.

I had to re-install the server, and strat directly to install longhorn Beta3.
Installation was a sharme ... till I try to install BCM; No way !
BMC, installed MDSE (why to do that as there is SQL2005 installed ... please
check that in a new version ...) and office 2007 components. After that I
suppose it began to install BCM core. Installation stop and failed.
I look at the log file and finally found on ly this :

"MSI (s) (D8:54) [10:43:04:875]: Note: 1: 2104 2: 5 3: mapisvc.inf
MSI (s) (D8:54) [10:43:04:875]: Product: Business Contact Manager for
Outlook 2007 -- Error 1913.Could not update the INI file
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\mapisvc.inf. Verify that the file exists and that you
can access it.

Error 1913.Could not update the INI file C:\Windows\SysWOW64\mapisvc.inf.
Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
MSI (s) (D8:54) [10:43:04:875]: User policy value 'DisableRollback' is 0
"

Any idea to correct that ?
Any advice ?

Many thanks

Pierre

Probably a file permission issue. You could try renaming or deleing
that file before the install. Since this is a server I assume your
mapisvc.inf file won't have anything useful in it. Outlook should
create a new one when it needs to store information about mapi stores.

Hi,

That was the point.
I had to take ownership of the file and then rename it.
After installation was a sharme :-)

My opinion is that installation procedure must be rewritten. I think there
is too much point to search for.
For instance, have the possibility to choose to connect to SQL2005 ...

I think product is not made for what we want to achieve ...

I had a BU of a database I create (for BCM) and can't succeed to modify the
share ...
I also can't succeed to create a new one ...
But is I attach the file create when intalling BCM (sql express) and attach
the files within SQL2005 ... it works !!

Can't understand and stop thinking !!!

Regards

Pierre
