Service Packs
Boxer[ at ]comcast.net 5/10/2007 8:12:25 PM
I've just purchased and installed OneNote 2003. It has SP1, the ID
number says.

Should I install OneNote SP2 at once?

I'm running XP Pro with a gig of memory. I tried OneNote 2007 and had
constant problems. I have Office 2003 and OneNote 2003 should work
better, I hope. I specifically didn't want WORD 2007. I'm
compromising, I realize.

You should definitely install OneNote's SP2 - it contained some bug fixes
you are likely to want.

It is too bad you couldn't adjust to OneNote 2007. Much as I loved OneNote
2003, 2007 is even better. Showing it off always causes jaws to drop.

Just out of curiosity, what caused you to decide to go back?

You should install all updates to OneNote/Office 2003.
What problems did you have with 2007?

Kathy and Patrick,

Thanks for the answer about service packs. I think I now have them all
loaded.

OneNote slowed and sometimes froze my screen. The cursor changed color
and the hourglass grew quite large and black. This is when I was NOT
intentionally running the program. It seemed reasonably fast when
running it.

And--OneNote 2003 is doing exactly the same thing. I seem to be all
right if it isn't running in the background, i.e., on startup. Whatever
the problem is, it goes away after I uninstall OneNote. I expect that
will be next.

It has to be an anomaly with my system. It is a nifty program and I
really wanted to use it.

Thanks to you both.
