Strange Onenote interaction with norton firewall
gog 4/9/2007 7:22:00 PM
Once in a while when using onenote, (can't describe in what exact
circumstances) I get a strange message coming from norton internet security;

"Program alert
Microsoft office onenote is attempting to listen for connections from other
computers
protocol ; TCP inbound"

Then Norton ask me permission to create a firewall rule...

When this happens, i'm not even connected to internet. My PC is not
connected to any network.

What is onenote trying to do ?
Why would Onenote "attempt to listen for connections from other computers" ?

Should i worry ?

Are you buy any chance trying to start up a live sharing session? What

No I'm not trying to startup a live sharing session. The problen is that i'm
not sure what triggers that response from norton. Maybe i'm clicking on the
help menu and onenote is trying to connect to microsoft database... But i'm
not sure

I don't know on what port either ; all i know from norton's message is that
onenote is on TCP protocol inbound...

Sorry i can't give you more precise information.
Thanks for your help Ilya.
