Drawings are semantically different from handwriting. They are treated as shapes. By telling the program that you're creating drawings instead of handwriting, you're basically saying not to try to recognize the ink. If you set it to "both" then the analyzer can infer from your writing fairly accurately what strokes are drawings and which are handwriting (which can be recognized and converted to text.)
