Hello all, I am using a licensed ON2007 and my OS is Windows XP. There is a message that indicate me that it has happened an error and ON2007 needs to close, losing my changes. It also contains a checked option for restart autommatically, asking if I want to "Debug""send report""doesn't send". It doesn't matter which option I choose keeps happening everytime that I try to: 1- Drag a page to a different section/notebook 2- Delete a untitled page (default on new section) 3- Delete a created page 4- In general, the program runs slowly for anything so if I execute two consecutive instructions (drag a page and open another section), the program freezes autommmatically and I need to force it to "end now".
Again, same error came up constantly. Would you have any idea to fix this situation? I really appreciate it

Something else: Because it freezes, I have to keep an eye on "Windows Task Manager" to check ON2007 status... the most common behavoir is "not responding". I dont think this performance is normal, so I would like to know if there is any missed component or something similar that I can fix.
More details of the computer that I am using, in case they help: Computer: III CPU - M 933MHz ... 398 MHz, 632 MB of RAM System: Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service pack 2 Running: Microsoft Office 2007 (word, Excel, ppt)
Any idea can helps and it is highly appreciated!

You know what I would do? Run the OneNote disk again and use the Repair function. That usually does it for me.

Try the following: - close all notebooks; - use "Tools | Options | Storage | Optimizing files | Optimize all files now"; - close ON and restart it, - open one of the notebooks which had showed the symptoms.
In addition you may just delete the ON-Cache (it will be re-built automatically). You'll find it in %localappdata%\microsoft\onenote\12.0\
If it does not help run a "repair" from "Add and remove" software.

Try the following: - close all notebooks; - use "Tools | Options | Storage | Optimizing files | Optimize all files now"; (wording may be a bit different, it's my transaltion as my ON speaks German); - close ON and restart it, - open one of the notebooks which had showed the symptoms.

If it does not help run a "repair" from "Add and remove" software.

Seems to be a bit of overkill ;-)

Hello Rainald, hello everyone!
Unfortunely, something is not working properly yet. I followed all your suggestions and now I have something else because I get the following message: "Critical error: OneNote was unable to access to the notebook cache file for an unknown reason. Possible reasons might include a change in the file permissions or a serious disk error. OneNote will now exit. For further assiatnce contact technical support. Error code: 0x2"
Since that error came up the first time, all the suggested process was followed including reparation, des-install/re-install; delete of cache files... etc
Nothing works so far.
Any ideas? Thanks

Terrible news ...

Unfortunately this now is far above my head {siiiigh}
Just one more vague idea: Uninstall again and check whether there are any remainders of ON in the hierarchy of %username%\Appdata\

Hello David, thanks for your contribution. Possitive, I found errors on the following subfolders of Event Viewer: Applications System Microsoft Office Sessions
Any further suggestion? Perhaps next steps? Thanks!

Thanks David/Rainald for your contributions. However, I am afraid that ON2007 go back to work as it used to do it without the need to implement your last two suggestions.
Please accept my apologies for this delayed reply. Thanks again

Are there any relevant errors in your Event log? Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Event Viewer. Check after starting OneNote and getting the error message box.
I assume you have adequate free space on your disk drive...
Finally, it might be worth getting a copy of SpinRite to check the health of your disk drive - http://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm
