Launch Party download...everything OK, except Biz Contact Mngr...no error
message, just failed to install...help?

Hi M Jagla first try going into "Trust Center" under "Tools" and then click
Add-ins.
"Business Contact Manager for Outlook" should be displayed under "Active
Application Add-ins". If it is displayed under "Disabled Application add-ins"
goto "Help" and select "Disabled Items". Select add-in "BCMMS32.DLL and
enable.
Hope this helps

I'm having the same issue. It's acting like it already sees BCM 2007. It's
not in my programs or in outlook disabled. I used this program in 2003 and
had to uninstall when I upgraded Office Accounting to 2007. I have Office
Enterprise 2007 on this machine as well, all other programs are working fine.
Any other ideas?

First, take a look at the SQL Server Express setup summary log to see
whether SQL Express installed without errors.
The log can be found at:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Summary.txt

Next, open your temp folder by clicking "Start | Run", then type %temp% and
click OK.
Look for files named MBSsetuptmp***.log where *** represents a combination
of letters and numbers.
Open each of the log files, starting with the most recently modified file,
scroll to the bottom of the file, and look for the return code. The return
code is zero if installation was successful. Otherwise, an error number
will be listed.

For example, this line indicates success:
MainEngineThread is returning 0

SQL install looks good. I went to the last MBSetuptmp file and the error
code is 1605.

Please backup, then delete the following registry key using "Start | Run"
then type regedit. Export the existing key to back it up. Then delete it
and all sub-keys. Then try re-installing.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM\3.0]

Okay, I did that and reinstalled. It goes through the process like it will
install and then I get the message that Business Contact Manager for Outlook
2007 Failed to install. I went to the MBSetuptmp log again and it says 0
this time. Any other ideas?

BCM is not listed anywhere in the Trust Center...I don't have any errors in
the SQL files...I don't have the hot key??? What is the issue? Any other
suggestions?

Hi Clifton,
I've been keeping a close eye on this discussion and following the outlined
process in hope to get BCM installed.
The sub key you are referring does not exist in my registry.
Any advice?

That's fine if you have not yet installed BCM 2007. If you have installed
BCM 2007, perhaps the setup failed. Look at the log files using the steps
in my previous message below. What do the log files contain?

Hi again Clinton,
PS I think I mispelled your namein my message, sorry, not intentionally done.

When checking the log, it states that the MainEngineThread returned 0, so it
should have been OK, but.... it does not install, it end with the message,
"Fail to install"
Any idea what it could be.

Typically, if an error occurs during setup, it will be in the middle
of the log file. It is sometimes repeated at the end of the log, but
not always. The reason it appears in the middle is because the rest of
the log file may the logs from rolling back the installation attempt
after the failure.

So, what am I looking for as this file is quite large. Will the line start
with MSI, like it did in determining my first error noted above....

Hi All,
This just fantastic.... this is the same level as we were in November last
year, discussing the same problem. ...and then it stop. As far as I can
summrize this discussion.
Uninstall BCM, reinstall, reinstall SQL... if that does not work forget it.
As soon as this discussion gets serious, nothing happens

** FIX **

I have spoken to a Microsoft technician who has found a solution for
me. It works!

Locate and export the following two registry keys:
Go to Start - Run - Type Regedit at then click OK.
Export these two keys on to the desktop and then delete
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM

Once exported now delete both of these registry keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Business Solutions eCRM

And then go through the install again.

Thanks for the heads up, Paul. This worked like a charm for me too. Great
Job!

We've had a number of reports like this one. In most cases, the SQL service is failing to start.

1.) Restarting your computer
2.) Right-click on "My Computer" and select "Manage"
3.) Expand the "Services and Applications" folder and click on "Services"
4.) If you have Outlook & BCM 2007, look for "SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ)"
Outlook & BCM 2003, look for "MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ"
5.) Check the status to ensure that it is running

If not, you can check the event log for errors:
1.) Click "Start | Run" then type eventvwr and click "OK"
2.) Check the Application & System logs for errors around the time that you encountered the error

Let me know what you find.

I am also having the same problem, however, my installation is failing when
it tries to modify the mapisvc.inf file because it says there is a
permissions problem. I have tried to go out and rename the file, but of
course with thenew permissions in Vista, I have no rights to modify and file
in the system32 directory. What can I do to get past this error??
