Somewhere in a past installation (Office XP) we set the MRU document list to
0. How do I either set it back to the default or just remove the key that
controls that for Office 2003 and Office 2007?

Hi, Jesslyn,

In Office 2007 apps it's in the Advanced Options under the Office button.

In Office 2003, look in Tools | Options.

Hm...mine is grayed out. We did not set it via policy, but in the CIW in a
previous install (Office 2003). It kept the settings when upgrading to
2007. Is there a registry key or other setting to fix this?

There are several locations. This article gives you the registry locations
for the MRU keys for Office apps:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/826208/en-us

Find the Maximum Entries setting and change the value.
