It doesn't work like that with English (UK) setup. Typing the first 4 characters of a month only ever produces the month. To get the full date, we have to type '7 ju' which then autocompletes to 7 June 2007 on pressing enter. This only works for the current date.
It we type 'The year is 2007' and press enter, we get 'The year is 2007-06-07' which can be immensely annoying. <g>
