Business Contact Manager 2007 Won't Work
blake.wylie[ at ]gmail.com 3/14/2007 2:42:25 PM
I've installed Business Contact Manager 2007 successfully (no errors).
When I
attempt to go through the configuration wizard (Help -> Configure
Business Contact Manager...), I select either Express or Advanced.
Once I click Next, the wizard dissappears completely. I try to go
through the wizard again and I get the same thing.

Rebooted after install? Yes
SQL Server (MSSMLBIZ) service is running.
OS: Windows Server 2003 SP1
Running on a Citrix Metaframe server
No errors in event log.
No other errors either.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
-Blake

Three additional notes to this issue:

-I am not running this through a Citrix session. It's just a Citrix
computer. However, Outlook is a published app.
-Each time I try to start up the BCM configuration wizard, the
application log logs the following information alert: "Starting up
database 'MSSmallBusiness'." (It's just showing that the Small
Business SQL database is starting when I try to run BCM).
-Also tried using a different profile on the same machine with the
same results.

Thanks,
-Blake

Fixed it (and for reference for those looking for the fix).

Firstly...one thing I didn't know: Outlook has Exchange Cached Mode
disabled on Terminal Services (for good reason). Because of this, BCM
would not run (it didn't give me an error which is why it took a while
to figure this out).

So, I went about a workaround. I only needed one profile to have
Cached Mode enabled. To change this, I went into the registry to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\<ProfileName>
\13dbb0c8aa05101a9bb000aa002fc45a

I had to set the value for key 00036601 to "84 1D 00 00"

This enabled Cached Mode for the particular Outlook profile I wanted
to use BCM on.

Hope this helps someone in the future.
