Installing MS Office 2003 on New Vista Machine
M C Hamster <davolson[ at ]speakeasy.net> 2/19/2007 7:58:01 PM
I just got a laptop with Vista as the OS. I tried to install MS
Office 2003 (I have valid licenses available still) and it gave an
error message saying the machine doesn't have Windows 97, 2000, or XP
installed and it aborted the install.

So how can I install Office 2003 on this machine? It has a preview /
trial of MS Office 2007 on it already... do I have to unistall that
first? I didn't want to do this unless I'm sure I can use my old
Office 2003 on this new machine... I'd better be able to do this,
grrrr....

Sounds as though your 2003 Office is an upgrade. If you have an earlier version
of Office on a disk, insert it into your computer and let the setup find it.

I'm in the same position as the original comments' author. However, I
can't seem to find my Office 2003 cd, so I put all the files on an
ipod and transferred them to the new laptop with Vista. When I try to
run Word it says "Operating system not configured to run this
program." What does this mean? Buy another copy of 2003?
