OneNote IFilter
"MULTISY" <multisy[ at ]ieee.org> 6/29/2007 9:17:22 PM
In order to get SharePoint Indexer to search .one documents it is necessary
to install OneNote on the Indexing server; but will this work if the server
is running x64 version of SharePoint? OneNote is a 32-bit application so I
am only assuming the IFilter is 32-bit; does an x64 IFilter for OneNote
exist?

Need guidance

We currently don't have a sperate x64 bit IFilter for OneNote and instead
you should be able to use the one that ships with OneNote (which works on
both 32bit & 64bit machines).

For more infomration please review the following:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Office/en-us/library/d07b6110-0e7d-456c-80bc-a1cc675a343c1033.mspx?mfr=true

If not please let us know!

I AM WRONG!

Thanks to Ilya for double-checking and telling me how I was wrong and our
IFilter is not supported on 64bit server machines. My apologies for
this..like I said before we are aware of this and looking at possible
solutions.

If no x64 IFilter for OneNote 2007 exists then how is it possible that
OneNote 2007 is Vista certified (or is OneNote 2007 not Vista certified).
Vista certified required both 32-bit & 64-bit? We've been picking I Adobe
for not having an x64 IFilter for .pdf now Microsoft is guilty too.

OneNote 2007 works fine on a Vista 64 machine (I'm typing this on a Vista
Ultimate 64-bit machine with OneNote 2007 running in another windows). The
only issue surrounds SharePoint indexing with the iFilter. I don't think
that's sufficient to disqualify it from certification.
