Whenever I try to use a numbered list in Word, it crashes

Whenever I try to use a numbered list in Word by using the numbered list
button, Word will crash. If I start typing the numbers, it doesn't crash.
However, if I then try to use the indent button, to get the sublevels, Word
will crash. Is this something introduced by a recent Service Pack? I
haven't seen crashes this bad or frequent in Word before.

What version of Word is this? The likeliest cause would be a corrupted
Normal.dot file (assuming Word 2003 or earlier).
