Outlook 2007 Contact Phone Number
Rev Anderson 12/29/2008 5:32:04 PM
I am unable to enter / save new phone or fax numbers into my Contacts without
OL 2007 telling me I have to enter my Location information for dialing the
Phone / Fax numbers.

I do NOT use a dial-up or any other form of telephone dialing software. How
can I turn this off?

Thanks

You can't. Just do what it tells you to. You are getting the prompt because
Outlook doesn't know how to format your phone numbers until you tell it
where you are. So set your dialing location for the operating system.

I had already accomplished that, when I did the initial install. I added new
contacts last week without this popping up.

Was there some kind of update, or is this one of the quirks of Vista?

Neither. State how you set the dialing location for your OS.

Thanks

I do not remember exactly how the Location was specified. My system had
crashed and I had to build a new one FAST.

I had already been using Outlook Contacts, inputing changes and new
Contacts. Then that dialog box started popping up yesterday.

That's why I am wondering if this is a Quirk which will be popping up every
now and again? If so, then how do I keep it from happening.

I already answered that question. As I said, it will keep happening until
you set your default dialing location. That is not an Outlook setting. It's
an operating system setting you access in Control Panel > Phone and Modem
Options... (in Classic View).
