ON 2007 - Computer failing, lack of free space to operate
User1981 10/23/2008 3:33:01 PM
Hello everyone!

I read once that it is feasible to relocate the folder "Offline_Cachefiles"
to a different location (out of C:/ drive). I took this alternative looking
for open free space to the normal operation of my computer. However it didnt
work, as you probably know, ON2007 reestablish them into 12.0 folder
autommatically.
That is to get back to point zero.

If you are aware of how those files operate, you will know that the only way
to DONT create them is create hyperlinks into each note, instead of printouts.
However................ printouts is the main reason because we choose to
work using ON2007, because it is the way how the text is searchable all time.

Please help, I need to keep working with ON2007 but I need free space of the
computer too. Any suggestion, despite the fact is not feasible free space
with dfragmentation process, it would be highly appreciated!

To me it seems that you might not have used the proper way.
How did you "relocate" the files?
Did you set the path for the Cache to the new location?

This works via
"Tools | Options | Save"
In the lower part of the dialog one can specify where the cache files
are to stored.

I just tested it by changing the path to another partition.
It took quite a while until the cache was transferred and the notebooks
(holding 360MB altogether) were ready again for working.
Then I deleted all files in
%username%\AppData\Local\microsoft\OneNote\12.0\.
No files were created thereafter.
