We have a similar problem in Word 2007. We email a word document from the Office Button 'Send' menu, and nothing happens (i.e., no Outlook 2007 'New Mail Message' window is not displayed). Subsequently, we cannot exit Word because a dialog indicates that the mail program is running (it suggests we either send or cancel the email before trying to exit Word).
The problem is that there is no Outlook application window on the desktop. Interestingly, Windows Vista Task Manager reports that the OUTLOOK.EXE process is running, but the Outlook application is neither reported in Task Manager nor displayed on the desktop. Unfortunately, we have to terminate the Outlook.exe process before we can exit Word 2007. Anyone have any suggestions for either of us?
