I wrote what follows in microsoft.public.outlook. One of the responses suggested that I bring my problem here.
Another gave me a list of payware tools, from which I've identified 3 that look like they might do what I want
MAPILab's Print Tools for Outlook, AU$36 GutenTag.ch's Print4OL, AU$20 SavviSofts Blueprint for Outlook. AU$30
It goes without saying that ceesed off that to do something as simple as print the first page of an email that I even have to use a 3rd party product, let alone a payware product.
Does anyone know of any freeware addons, all of the above seem to do much more than I want?
Does anyone have any experience with any of these tools, if so has that experience been happy or otherwise?
Does anyone know of any product comparisons/reviews?
I don't have the time nor the inclination to trial each of the 3 products.
======================================================================== Is there anyway to print an email directly from the main Outlook 2007 screen and have the same Print Dialog facilities available that I have in other Office components- particularly page range. Does anyone know of any 3rd party products that address this deficiency.
I know I can open the email in a viewer, then open it in IE and print from there - but that approach is not fit for purpose, because
I don't know the email subject - often the most important information!!, I don't know who sent the email, I don't know the date on which it was sent I don't know to whom it was copied I don't know what attachments the email contained
One of the things I print is sales orders, selling agents orders always extend across 2 pages, the second page is always the same. So I just want to print the first page. I print the sales orders on letterhead stationery so it's expensive to print two pages, my printer does not print double sided. Yes I know I can print just the odd pages - but if an order extends over 3 pages - I want to print pages 1 & 2 - the odd pages only "solution" only works for small orders!
I actually find it absolutely amazing that Outlook does not use the standard Windows Print Dialogs. Sure have a Memo and a List (Table) print, but keep them separate and make sure they converge on the standard print dialogue to offer page range, number of copies etc, features - like all the other software on my system.!!
I'm wondering what happened to the WYSIWG principle.
