Keeping PPT 2003 & PPT 2007 RonH 12/31/2008 5:07:00 PM I have both PPT v2003 and v2007. I would like to keep each of them on a single Windows XP system for ease in supporting my customers. When I install PPT 2007 it "overlays" PPT 2003 and I can only access PPT v2007. I did not find an option of other method to allow the two products to be kept separate. Is there a way that both of these versions can co-exist on a single Windows XP system?

PowerPoint 2007 must be installed in a separate folder. When you install it, you'll find a tab at the top of the Install Wizard that provides the option to install the program in a different folder. If I remember correctly, I think you'll have to create the new folder before you install the program (e.g., C > Program Files > Microsoft Office > New Folder). During the install process you should have been given the option to do a custom install and it will ask if you want to overwrite the previous version. You have to answer NO to that question and uncheck any programs you don't want to be overwritten. Been a while since I installed '07 but I have one computer with Office 4.3, 97, 2000, 2002, 2003 & 2007 peacefully co-residing on an XP Pro machine. It's a good habit ALWAYS to choose the Custom Install option with Office and (IMO) with ANY software you install. That'll give you some idea of what the installer proposes to do if left to its own devices, and it'll give you a chance to head it off at the pass. In this case, you'll want to uninstall everything, install 2003, do any necessary patching/updates, then install 2007 (custom install option, remember) and don't let it remove any older applications.
