How do I modify the standard color palette in Word 2003?

I'd like to make some custom colors part of the standard color palette in
Word 2003 for a particular file... is this possible?

Sorry, but that is not possible. Word does not have an editable palette.

Not possible but you can save coloured items as styles or autotext entries
as appropriate for ease of re-use.
