Network activity with BCM shared
"John" <duckdive[ at ]yahoo.com> 3/23/2007 7:31:01 AM
I am using BCM 2007. The master database is at the main office.
Remotely, I'm connected with a IPSec VPN over a cable/dsl with decent
speeds (at least 768 u/d).

I've shared the master BCM database at the main office, and I can
connect to it with reasonable performance (recently upgraded the RAM
on the PC to 2gb 800mhz Ballistix).

Yet, on my remote PC, I have constant network activity. I have turned
off the Offline Database and all linking on the remote PC. My Outlook
is working fine, and I'm 99% sure that this activity is coming from
BCM. If I use an Outlook profile without BCM, the network activity is
normal (only blinks when I know some data needs to be transferred).

Does anyone have any advice?

John

If you are connected to remote database, BCM polls the remote database at
regular interval for any data chages. This can happen in Offline mode also
if you have set Offiline DB to sync automatically.

OK. So it is by design. Is there any way to change the frequency?
It seems odd that the network activity is so constant. (and I'm
certain that it only happens when BCM is open)

Unfortunately, no way to change it. Try tweaking offline settings and
disable automatic sync.
