Feature request - Web clipping
Roger Miller 3/15/2007 5:22:05 PM
I routinely use the screen clipping feature to take note of info on a web
page. Honestly, after using this feature for a week I adopted ON 2003 as an
essential piece of computer software. I no longer need to have a pad of paper
and pencil sitting next to my computer keyboard (which seemed crazy even back
then).

So, here is my question/feature request. Why did ON 2007 include options
for the insertion point for webnotes but not for screen clippings? The menu
Tools/Options/Send to OneNote/Webnotes in ON 2007 will set the program
behaviors so that clicking the ON icon in internet explorer will send the
info to either:
(new page in section..)
(new page in current section)
(on the current page).

Unfortunately, a similar set of options is not available for the screen
clippings feature. This would be a valuable feature to prevent a whole string
of notes piling up in the unfilled notes section (which requires the ON icon
to be visible in the taskbar).

This seems like an easy fix.

Roger

Clippings in 2007 go to the current position or section you are working
in, not the unfiled section. At least in my 2007 this is the behavior....

What exactly are "web notes"? I couldn't find the answer in the help
section.

One workaround that I've found for ending the piling of notes in the
unfiled notes
is the following:
1- Assign the "Onenote" icon on the lower right side of the screen to
open a new side-note.
(right click the note and change the parameters)
2- Make sure the side-note menu includes the "screen clipping" button
3- When you are on the web and want a clipping, just press the
"onenote" icon, and press the "screen clipping" button.
This will copy the clipping to side-note.
4- Move the curson on the side note to be just below the clipping, but
above the web reference.
5- Adjust the screen on the website, so you display the next clipping
desired
6- Click the "screen clipping" button on the side-note.
With this procedure you now have two or more clippings to be displayed
continuosly on the notes page.
