Hyperlinks Warning just won't quit....
dfrost57 3/19/2007 7:59:48 PM
How do I shut off the Hyperlinks warning? I have implemented the action as
directed in
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.onenote/browse_frm/thread/a55cca4952869802/
and I am continuing to have the problem when I use the "copy hyperlink to
this paragraph" feature in One Note 2007 and paste it in Excel 2003. When I
use the link in Excel I still get the warning. “Hyperlinks can be harmful to
your computer and data. To protect your computer, click only those hyperlinks
from trusted sources.
Do you want to continue?"
If I use links in Excel that I create in Excel to link to other Office
programs, Word for example, I do not get the warning. It seems to be unique
to the OneNote hyperlinks. Any help or comments would be appreciated.

I have implemented that already but it has not worked for me. (Not positive I
did it correctly) Have you tried doing exactly what I am doing. Specifically,
I have the problem when I use the "copy hyperlink to this paragraph" option
in OneNote and paste it in Excel. When I use the hyperlink in Excel I get the
warning. Does this happen on your system? Thank-you in advance.

Tried it in excel 2007 and in excel 2003 (ON 2007 also) and no problem (no
security message or hyperlink warning).

You may want to try looking at your security settings - not sure where they
are.

I really don't work in excel a lot but there was no problem for me.

The first time I hit the link there was a different message (not the
hyperlink warning - something else) but every time after that (closed and
reopened and made another new file an created another link) no problem

Re: Hyperlinks Warning just won't quit....

Still getting warning. I went back and checked my work and found everything
in order except that in the box to set the DWORD setting to either 0 or 1,
the 1 was in place but the "Decimal" selection had been changed to
"Hexidecimal" so I changed it back to decimal but still no luck. I went back
and checked and it is hexidecimal again......
I think a lot of my frustration and confusion comes from the fact that the
only time I am getting the warning is going to ON.....
I noticed you have Excel 2007. I wonder if that makes a difference.....

glad it worked for you.

I do have both 2003 and 2007 and the hyperlink warning fix done in both
places.

2003 done many months ago and then
2007 done last month when I installed it.

Re: Hyperlinks Warning just won't quit....

I have had a similar problem. In outlook 2003 in the navigation pane one
could use the shortcuts view to put in shortcuts to folders. One could also
create a new group (I called it Programs) and copy or drag shortcuts from the
desktop or other places to it. I had shortcuts for programs, files and
folders and could use the outlook view as my desktop, so I did not have to
keep switching back and forth from outlook to my desktop. When i upgraded to
office 2007, I get the Hyperlink warning showing the path to my desktop and
the .ink file for the shortcut and then says: Hyperlinks can be
harmful...click only ... from trusted sources" I have tried the registry
hacks in this posting but still get the warning. This was a really useful
feature that many I have shown it to are using. I would like to be able to
stop all the warnings before they move to 2007. Any ideas why outlook is
warning me? I have searched all through MS help and tried changing security
levels in office and IE but to no effect.
