Mail Merge Index

My mailmerge document displays the merge field's index instead of data. How
do I avoid this. Using MS Access 2002.

I am not sure what you mean by Index. Maybe what you are saying is that you
are seeing the mail merge field codes. If that is what it is, you can
toggle off their display by using Alt+F9. If that is applicable, it also
indicates that you have not executed the merge, but are merely trying to
preview the results. If you execute the merge, the data will appear in
place of the merge fields.

thank you. I meant ID field (not Index). The merge documents data source is
a query and the query is based on several tables. One of the tables has a
field and an "ID" field.

Do you have the right field inserted in the mail merge main document?
