The first thing I would check is your default email program - If you are using IE7 Tool > internet options > programs then check to make sure your email program is shown correctly. If that doesn't work then hit ctrl/Alt/Delete to see what programs are running and if some has stopped running. If programs have stoipped try closing the stopped programs.
If you start your machine and go directly to write the email and then send does it work always, sometimes or not at all. If it always works then it might be that some other program that you are using before you start youe email process is interfering.
