It works fine with a modem but I would prefer it use my DSL connection since I am never connected to the modem

That's one of the reasons you placed filters on your line so you could use it for voice at the same time.

I would think that just plugging your modem into an extra phone jack on your DSL phone system would do the trick... If your phone handset is a VOIP phone, then of course this will not work, but a good number of voip systems (especially home ones) allow you to plug in a standard phone...and thus you should be able to plug in your modem to that phone jack also.... -- Albert D.
