Deleting text

SI used to be able to eliminate text by highlighting a word or group of words
and then hitting delete.

I read earlier response to this situation that said to highlight, then hit
backspace.
I made the setting adjustment they recommended and it worked.

I'm not going crazy...how do I make it work by hitting "delete"? It always
used to work.

What version of Word is this? When you press Delete, is there a Delete Block
Y/N? prompt on the status bar? If so, then choose Tools - Options - General,
and remove the checks next to the Wordperfect options.

If nothing is selected, then Delete deletes to the right, Backspace to
the left. With selected text, they should have the same effect. What
are you seeing instead?
