OK - I eventually got it... after deleting my profiles I had to delete the "ghost profiles" as some site referred to it as...
Essentially I deleted the profile from here
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles
Then it would finally quit trying to migrating old profiles... (I'll try getting my old PST in now...)
