Blue screen
Sudden I often recieve this blue screen errors. Mainly when I start my pc it
goes into the blue screen error. So I have to reset it once often twice
before I can get XP SP2 to load.
Sometimes it occurs when I have just started XP. The most recen time it went
like that in XP it said, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I have ran the systemtool for the harddrive but it didn't got bettrer and

vacating an embedded search provider
just upgraded to windows xp. previously used system in the UK and the system
is stuck with "internet explorer provided by BTopenworld" and often the
searchs relate to UK web. I just did upgrade to Internet explorer 7 from
microsoft downloads. The BT openworld thing is still there.
How can i get this out of the system?

Profile Issue
I am having an issue. I have a user who has a laptop and now wants to join
the company domain. Problem is he has tons of data ie. email....calendar
appts and stuff on his laptop. I created a user account on the 200 server
domain for him and joined his laptop to the domain. As expected he does not
see any of his old data and emails ect. What is the best way to have him see
his old stuff? ...

Configure Windows XP desktop likes a terminal desktop

Problems with boot up...
I have the following messages appearing when I boot up.
FireDaemon.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Lsasse.EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Netint.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Yet the system appears to work OK. When I look in the Task Manager,
Lsasse.exe is still running, but FireDaemon.EXE closes, I don't see
NetInit.exe. And th...

sysprep on a oem pc
I have to install 30 dell optiplex, all same type and software.
I setup one, install all software I need and then use sysprep and ghost to
clone this one to the other.
The first problem is with an error explained with article 320279 ( a wrong
value on register) that I've solved following the article.

I'm trying to recall how XP assigns drive letters
Let's say you have this, all on one physical drive:
C partition - Formatted, primary, bootable, system volume, FAT
The rest of the drive is unpartitioned.
You boot the XP CD and format two NTFS partitions. I believe these would
become two logical drives in an extended partition.
If you install XP onto that first NTFS partition, I think it would call
itself the "D" drive once you bo...

I'm trying to reinstall WinXP w/SP2 and, after I load the CD and start the
Install, it keeps bringing me back to the screen where 'another copy of
windows is intalled', even though I have chosen the format the drive option,
it keeps coming back to the same 'another copy of windows is installed'...
Now I know what a hampster feels like!

Install XP w/o CD Rom
Hello,
My laptop (P3, 500Mhz) had an external CD ROM drive which I lost.
I did the following to install XP:
I moved the HD from this Laptop, inserted it to another Laptop, installed XP
on it and then put it back.
When I turned on the laptop it will not boot only gives choices between
"Save Mode" etc. and whatever I chose it went back to that screen.
How can I install XP without a CD ROM?

Cannot install raid drivers via F6
Following a major virus infection, (I downloaded something I shouldn't have),
I have been trying to put XP on a machine that ran my home network with
Server 2003. I get the following error when trying to load the raid drivers

Moving the start menu folders
My laptop is telling me it is on the way out, so I have transferred to a PC.
Having made sure the start menu is exactly how I like it, I would like to
save myself some work. I would like to simply copy the folders across with

Application Data folder
Hi,
I want to know if we can move the whole Application Data folder from the
Documents & Settings\%User Profile% to some network drive. The reason I want
to do this is to make my users' profiles light enough so that roaming
profiles among workstations is easy. Everyone of these users has a home
drive mapped to their profile and that's where I want to move the
Application Data folder!!...

can't uninstall SP2
I installed SP2 on my XP Pro. After the process, the machine was so slow it
was unusable. I could not even access normal commands without waiting for
ages. I decided to uninstall SP2 in safe mode. Something is corrupt because I
can't access Add/Remove programs without getting a beep and nothing. So I run
the spuninst file from it's folder. When it finishes running the preliminary

Reinstall Pain-Soothing Needed

Recently my PC started losing power randomly and then would no longer
come on. A friend came over and diagnosed it as a fried power supply,
processor and motherboard. After he installed all the new parts we were

Trouble with the install
I have an OEM version of XP home with SP2. I am using a 300gb sata drive,
but have no problems using the F6 button to install the sata drivers. My
problems coms at 58% into the install. It won't install ks.sys, and goes
downhill from there. every other file from then on won't copy.
any suggestions?...

trying to run a my app on another computer
I've just built a "hello world" app in DEBUG MODE that runs fine on my
development computer.
On my test computer, I have a problem.
I've looked at the dependencies with Depend.exe and found that I was missing
msvcr80d.dll so I found a copy of it in .....\WinSxS\.... the appropriate
dir that had both the dll and the manifest and copied them along with the

XP SP2 image with BDD
I'm attempting to deploy WSD/WAIK and BDD2007. Unfortunately, Vista is not
in our immediate future so I need to continue deploying XP. I have
successfully captured and deployed a basic XP image using the standard LTI
processes supplied with BDD 2007. The standard process wipes the disk,
deploys an new OS and apps, then captures the image all in one continuous
stream.
