Win XP Pro
CD was purchased under student program perhaps 3 years(?) ago.
Now when I wemt to repair the OS I find that the version is so old I cannot
repair unlest I reinstal everything. I also cannot access any of the 'Perform
additional tasks' This is a genuine MS cd. Does MS exchange defective XP
install CD's?

Cannot install XP on Brand New Build
When I attempt to load Windows XP Home Edition SP2 on my new PC I encounter
the following error messages during setup
Windows can't load installer for CDROM
Windows can't load installer for Disk Drive
Windows can't load installer for Battery

HP reinstall nightmare
I am trying to reinstall XP media center on a HP Pavilion a1440n. I
bought the reinstall disks but everytime it gets to the 3rd disk I get
the error DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. Anybody know whats causing
that? I have tried erasing the HD first with other programs and that
doesn't work either. I hate HP!

'Windold' folder: Upgrading motherboard
Hi there,
I need expert advice: I was asked by my tech service to reinstall XPpro
after of a motherboard upgrade. They performed a full reinstallation of XP on
a new 'windows' folder (instead of reformatting the hard drive) and renamed
the old windows folder to 'windold'.
My question is, it's safe to delete this 'windold' folder? I assume it's not
needed by the system anymore... not su...

Missing file when upgrading from XP Home to XP Pro
Hello.
I tried to upgrade my Windows XP Home SP2 to Windows XP Pro SP2 (MSDNAA CD
with correct key). I start the setup process from Windows. I choose the
upgrade option but when the setup tries to copy the setup files, at the end
of the copy, it tells me that a file is missing. When I start the setup

XP, Time from PDC or Time.Windows.Com?
I was looking at some XP Pro boxes in our domain, and though, when in a
domain, the "Time Server" tab doesn't show up, querysntp still yields
time.windows.com,0x1 as the SNTP source. I don't want them to go there, I
want them to get their time from the PDC emulator just like the 2000 boxes.
Are these XP pro boxes getting their time from time.windows.com or does the
fact that they are in...

Changing Sysprep VLK Windows XP for other types: OEM & Retail

XP deployment with SMS 2003
I am attempting to deploy XP from an SMS server in a domain that has
lmcompatibilitylevel=5. I cannot capture the OS image to any machine in the
domain as booting from the capture cd will not let you authenticate to the
SMS server to store the image on the server. It is no problem to capture the
image somewhere else and copy the file. The problem lies in booting with the
installation CD....

Burning XP Pro Image from Technet fails
Hey everybody,
I downloaded the XP Pro Disc Image from Technet and want to burn it on CD.
Each time I do so, the crc305-Test fails at 13 % (error code 23). I've tried
it by just burning the iso with Nero on two different systems and mounting
the image with Daemon Tools and copying the the whole disc. The iso/mounted
image is always valid, the burned disc fails at 13 %.

Updating Windows product key in safe mode
Hi,
I've just installed WinXP Pro on one of my PCs to find out that the software
wasn't genuine. Windows would not start because of this so I have booted in
safe mode and have gone through the Windows Genuine Advantage checkup and
have bought a new product key.
The problem now is that the Key updater tool (KeyUpdateTool.exe) wouldn't
work in safe mode and Windows wouldn't start normall...

RIS detected two computers with same GUID

Can I install OEM OS over pirated?
To make a long story short, the computer I bought in City A a few years
back had pirated operation system. I have since moved across the
continent, but after endless wrestling the vendor, now defunct, had
coughed up an OEM copy, which I received by mail.
The thing is, will I be able to install an OEM OS without a vendor license?
