Just restored system, now Installer runs
Every time I start Internet Explorer.
Have to cancel installation, then w a i t, for installer to
give up.

Deploying Windows XP with BDD and IMAGEX

clean install. productkey problem
hi, can you help?
I recently found malware on my comp which despite all efforts to remove
will not budge, so, i'm gonna do a clean install. (its had it comin for a
while now). my problem is this, its an OEM version of XP home, i bought the
pc two years ago and knew nothing about product keys etc.. i have the discs

Issues with Endpoint Queues & File Transfer Wizard

I'm trying to run a File Transfer Wizard on a XP PC and the wizard comes to

Pictures in PDF icons in 'My documents' file
When I store PDF-documents in the file 'My documents' I sometimes can see
the first page of the document (like I can see a picture) in the icon of the
document and sometimes not. What can I do to see the first page in all the

Add Remove Program question
On my home computer the "Change or Remove Program" list has the
heading "Currently installed programs" and a "Sort by" box. All

ImageX Problems
I'm having a problem with an imaged computer. I'm not sure if it is related
to Image X. It appears that when ever I open a file on the desktop without
opening the application it hangs for about 40 seconds. If I do a netstat -a
the computer is trying to reach a certain IP address that I can't even ping

Trouble with drive letters on dual boot with Vista
My client has a Gateway computer, Intel platform, that came with Vista Home
Premium installed. Due to Vista compatibility issues with some software that
the client was using, she wanted to install Windows XP on the same computer.

Where are Windows users defined?
According to WindowsXP, there is a user defined on my machine. However
there is no profile and there are no registry entries for this user so where
does Windows get the name of the user from?
The problem is that this user was added by my Anti-Virus software (Sophos)

Drivers after sysprep
Hi,
I have installed a network adaptor driver and it was working fine with the
hardware. However after i run sysprep on the image and upon the next restart,
the OS will prompt me about a new hardware and i'm required to re-install the
network driver again.
This is the first time that i have to re-installed a driver after sysprep
and i do not have any problems with the other drivers ...

XP deployment and imaging - HELP ME
Hi,
I have gotten away from the imaging and deployment process for a while. I
used to use GHOST. I would install XP and update it, put all the apps on it
(one issue was office, if something went wrong it would always want the
source location of the network folder from where it was installed???), then
sysprep the box, and ghost it to the server.

PC Stops Responding During Startup
I have recently attached a Maxtor external hard drive to my computer via a
USB connection.
On some occassions, I shut down the PC but forget to switch off the external

Installing XP on an external hard disk
Can someone explain to me how to install Windows XP on an external hard disk?
- my company is about to lock down the hard drives on all laptops to control
viruses and I want to set up an external hard drive with system and software
for my own use (avoids having to buy a separate computer). I also need to

Turning Off My Computer
I am the computer administrator. When I go to Start>Turn Off Computer,
nothing happens. However, if I swith user to another person on my computer,
then when I go to Start>Turn Off Computer, it works OK.
