My computer restarts at random times? XP HOME

can anyone tell me how to cancel a chdsk ( other than through tools )it goes

icons, sound,fonts disappear- windows running out of something? :(

experiencing problems - as some time (15mins-2hours on average) passes

Media Detection in Removable Storage Manager
I'm looking at using multiple DVD's to use as a backup media using ntbackup,
currently I'm using a bit of a hack to drop the backup file straight onto a
disc, but that's not going to last long, from everything I've read it should
be possible to use Removable Storage...

Deleting Old Update Folders??
My Dell XP is almost 5 years old, runs great, but I have TONS of these in my
Windows folder: $NtUninstallKB..... and $NtUninstallQ..... folders and files.
These slow down defrags, virus checks, etc. I don't plan to ever uninstall
any previous updates, since the computer runs well. Can I safely delete
these or will I regret it during a future Service Pack or some other update?

Neon green tint to screen since an auto XP update
After an auto XP update, my monitor now has a neon green tint that really
looks like crap when you try to look at a picture! For instance - when you
have the "island" desktop picture up - there's a green tint all around the
white clouds. Anyone have a clue how to fix this? If so, please email me at

Automate the installation of the Microsoft Update Client
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question. I am trying to

Perfmon problems persist even in the latest version!!!!
I just cant believe that the Perfmon tool that I rely on so much is riddled
with bugs!
Always in Author Mode.

3D games
3D games will not work.I also have color bleeding. If I move a window that I
have open, back and forth, I get green streaks going through it, the more I
move it the greener it gets. this "bleeding" shows up everywhere.

XPH Installed, SFC asking for XPP
I have a computer that had Win98, Upgraded to XPH. 1 Year later the Hard
drive was giving errors, Ghost to the new hard drive, runs fine, no errors in
the event log. But I decided to run SFC /scannow. SFC is asking for XPP.
Winver shows XPH. System shows XPH.
What can I do?
I Googled and found nothing. I went to Microsoft and found nothing.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

User Accounts window hanging in safe mode
Hi,
when I log in to the administrator account in safe mode and attempt to edit
the user accounts, I get an Internet Explorer script error, with no other

Performance Monitor question
XP Professional SP2. Does anyone know what the Connects Window NT counter in
the Redirector performance monitor object normally should return? The
explanation says it "counts the connections to Windows 2000 or earlier

Registry settings to specify WSUS server on XP x64?
I've looked around, and do not see any documents on registry edits to
setup an XP64 machine to talk to our WSUS server...
The registry keys that are there for editing on XP are not there on XP64

Screen Resolution Problem
Even though I have set the screen resolution to 1024x768 pixels, selected
apply, and OK, the monitor will automatically switch over to 640x480 pixels
every hour on the hour for a minute or two and then return to 1024x768

cant remove bf2 program from add/remove
help someone i had trouble with the running of bf2 ive been playn the game
since sept 06. lately the game has kept freezing on me so i uninstalled it

Cannot hear dvds/cds through laptop, assistance sought please
Help please?
I have a Packard Bell EasyNote laptop, bout a year old.
It is running Windows XP Version 2002 service pack 2.
My problem, or misunderstanding, is that I cannot hear sound from my
dvds/cds, unless through my headphones. I have checked and double-checked my
