Can I get the Hotfix for support article # 828402 anywhere other than paying
$99 to email Microsoft?
I am getting the 8017 error code during daily NTBackup procedure.

Backing Up Software Licenses - Reinstalling Windows
I have a PC with Windows XP Pro and a ton of legally purchased software (such
as MS Office). I am in the process of upgrading my PC with a new motherboard
and video cards, and I would like to reformat the hard drive and reinstall
Windows XP Pro., and then reinstall the software that is on the 'C' drive.

Boot and Reboot problems
I am running Windows XP with SP2. When I booy up I get a blue screen with
this message: Hardware monitor found error.
Press F1 to countinue, press f2 to enter setup.
This started after I installed Norton 2007.

saving files
I don't know why windows makers have made my music and my pictures folder.
is it worth to save pictures and music in these folders, does saving files
in the same directory
of operating system makes system slower.
Please suggest, the best place for saving music and photo whether in these
folders
or in some separate partition.

Device Manager is Empty!
Hi,
I have Windows XP Pro X64, SATA.
I went into Safe Mode to run some anti-virus programs. No problems were
found so nothing was deleted. When I returned to normal mode, my computer
was completely changed. I received this message two times when I rebooted:

Computer randomly stop working and it doesn't accept Ctrl+alt+dele
My computer stops working an it doesn't respond to any comand, this has
happened while I'm using internet or messenger. When this happend I have to
turn off the computer using the power botton... I checked for virus but I

unable to open any more windows after a certain amount of time
Why am I unable to open any more windows on my computer after a certain
amount of time?
I surf the Internet a lot and open a lot of new windows all the time. After
opening up so many new windows, my computer seems to "run out of memory" and
will not allow any more new windows to open.

Surfing is WAY TOO SLOW
I have an AMD-64 machine running XP Pro with every service pack out, 2
1/2 GB ddr 2 ram, 2 250 GB HDs and a 256 MB PCI-Express Video Card. I
have more than 50% on each drive free and my paging file is set to 3GB
and Temp Internet size to 1GB. My internet connection is broadband
cable at 6Mb. I get those speads on the tests but it will not render

Can only run one program at a time!

System recovery kept all applications!!
Hope some can help me out.
I did a system recovery because my computer's been acting up (as in realllly
slow) for a while. First of all after the SR it wouldnt go to my desktop. It
just went to a blue window and stayed there. So i had to turn of the computer

System Restore Functioning
I am uncertain as to whether or not System Restore is working properly. It
offers me system restore points to restore to but when I attempt to restore
to them the HD LED flashes for 15 or 20 seconds or so then stops. The
restore screen does not change and the computer does not restart as suggested

Is it possible to get XP to recognize all 4GB's?
Hey boys and girls... Here's the deal, was running with 1.5 GB of some plain
jane memory, and after upgrading my graphics card I decided to drop some more
cash on some nice memory and more than I'll every really need. So, I bought

Sorting Programs Menu
Is there a way to tell XP Home SP2 to sort the programs menu per the most
frequently used? Sorting it alphabetically is easy. Right click on any menu
item and choose Sort by Name. But how about sorting, and keeping it sorted,
by most frequently used?

Windows Explorer
new install XP Pro SP2 on 320 GB HDD:
Once installed, Windows Explorer is opened, click on My Computer and search
"flashlight" opens and it does this for 3-5 minutes before opening. When it
finally opens it is normal but close goes back to same "hang time"...
I use Windows Explorer aka "file manager" exclusively to open neccessary
files for normal daily business.

computers slow on network

Problems with intellimouse and recent windows updates?
Has anyone reported any problems with recent updates preventing cordless
optical mice working? My Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 has stopped working and

Laptop Battery Problem.... **Pleaseeeeeeee help**
Hey guys!
Well.. I bought my laptop just over a year ago. About 1yr 4mths I think..
Ever since I got it, the battery life was only about 30mins max and
underneath the laptop (where the windows sticker is) gets extremely hot.. so
hot I've never been able to actually use it as a 'lap' top hehe
As of recently I've only been able to use the laptop on battery for about

Bizarre hard drive space issue
