Why can't I delete some History entries?
Using XP Pro. There are some History files in Local Settings/History/Day/My
Computer that won't delete. Most of them will delete (select it then hit
delete key or Right Click>Delete) but some won't. In W2000 any or all can be
individually deleted.
Anybody know why some of these History entries/URL shortcuts will delete and
others won't?

Wireless not working
Hi
Dell latitude D810 with Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG wireless card. The
wireless connection (under control panel->network connections) shows a red
cross and no networks are visible to it. I uninstalled the wireless card
driver and rescanned for hardware which caused the driver to be installed
again. Still no luck with seeing any network connection in vicinity. What
can I do to ...

maximising all windows
I want to every window I open, especially sub folders and files within them,
to open 'maximised as the default setting. I know you can right click an
icon in the quick launch list and set the window size in it's properties box
but what about e.g. a collection of digital photographs tucked away in a
hierarchical collection of folders, sub-folders, sub-sub-folders etc. The

Windows XP re-install activation
Hi I just attempted to re-instally xp on my laptop. Every seemded to work fin
until I re started my machine. It came up with a error saying i must activate
windows before i could log-in. So i clicked on the active button & it said
that it is already active. Then it either crashes or takes me back to the
screen where you can change user accounts & asks me the same thing.
Can anyone help...

autoplay
my son has been down loading and burning some music. ever since he did that i
keep getting a pop up bos that has "autoplay with a flashlight that appears
to be looking for a file" it has a cancel button and even though i click on
that it still keeps appearing. what is this and how can i make it stop?...

.net framework
Sorry about this dumb question, but I am having problems with a program that
uses .net framework. I saw on another forum where someone did a "repair"
install of .net framework. The question is how is this done or is it just a
matter of reinstalling over top of the old install? Thanks for any help.

Is There A Way To Retain Unused-Icon Customizations?
Hi:
Windows XP SP2 ACU randomly alters my system-tray icon
customizations after nearly every Windows session.
This issue necessitates returning to the Customize Notifications
dialog box frequently after reboots to restore "Always show" and
"Always hide" settings.
Can anybody explain to me how to make these settings permanent?

locking desktop icons
Is it possible (and if so how) to lock the position of icons on the desktop.
I like a desktop with quite a few shortcuts and apps icons on it but find
they sometimes annoyingly rearrange themselves. It happens when I
experiment with the display settings and, I suspect, on other occasions.
I'd like to anchor them permanently or at least be given warning that any

firewall problem
ZoneAlarm blocks this DNS everytime I boot up. (68.97.156.1) I can't tell
that it's affecting the way the machine works, but I wonder what it's about.

New Problem with XP Validation
Hi, I've recently validated my XP Pro system but I now have a number of
errors, mainly:
My video card is now no longer recognised by XP
When I run the Backup program I get the "famous blue screen"
When I tried to start Media player 11, same as for backup.
My system has slowed down dramatically.
I use a MSI Motherboard with a videocard plugged directly into it.

Run History
When I click on Start > Run, it opens up a box to type into, there is a
drop down arrow which used to allow me to select from previous commands that
I had used, recently this has changed and is now blank. If I type in cmd,
etc, then the next time I re-start my PC it is blank again. It appears to be

User File Takeover ??
I have to call it a takeover but it maybe a profile over write. Anyway, some
time back I got a new computer. Set up my username, password protected it.

How to delete or clean recyler?
There are two HD (C and D) drives in my computer.
During chkdsk today, about 500 MB of corrupted files were dumped into
D:\RECYCLER.
Those corrupted files names are like Dd1234,cab like that.
I tried to delete the Recycler folder or its contents. So far, I am not
successful.
Please help me with cleaning the recycler.
