One is a read only and the other is a CD-RW. I have been backing up my data on the RW drive for the past couple of years with no problems using Sonic's DLA ver 1.0.0.1 ( I think). I now have a new wide screen Samsung LCD monitor. It is indeed great monitor. One subtle problem is the color of fonts.
