Networking a USB broadband connection
Hi out there. I wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to internet
connection share a USB broadband modem on a network. This modem is gets a
wireless signal from the provider. (For Australian readers, I'm on Telstra's
Next G wireless broadband with a USB desktop modem) I am using a D-Link
802.11g router, connected to the host pc via ethernet. The idea is to connect
to the home wireless...

Shared user folders across a network.
Hi,
I have a small home network of several computers used by the family.
Currntly I have them set up so that the user folders (my documents, settings
etc) are on the one machine and are shared out to be accessed from the other
machines. The idea is that I want any family member to be able to log in
from any machine and have access to all the same files and settings. This
works, as lon...

XP won't recognise my router, some help please
I have 4 computers in my house and wanted to make it so that they can all use
the broadband we have installed. So I went out and bought a router. The
problem is XP just won't connect to it properly. I follow all of the
instructions in the manual, and still I cannot connect to the internet on an
XP PC. Am I doing something drastically wrong?
Heres what the manual says:
1. go Start-Setti...

Is network file-sharing possible with AOL?
Following AOL's instructions, and using their own disk and provided router, I
set up 1 PC by Ethernet, and the 2nd by wireless adaptor. An AOL Screen Name
and Password has to be permanently assigned to the router, after which,
either PC can access the Internet without the other being on - unlike ICS.
However, in effect, no network has been set up through Windows XP, thus it
(Pro and Home...

First line in Tracert
Hello,
I have a question about the first line in tracert.
We just had some network guys come in and set up a new network and
firewall. Things suddenly got a lot slower accessing the internet.
In every tracert, the first line times out.
Is this a DNS problem? Like is it trying to resolve using the local
domain server first, then giving up and trying the ISP's?
Here's an example:

Hi --
I saw a nice router/access point but am hesitant to buy because I know
nothing about Linux. Here is part of the description:

firmware for the wireless routers that have the Linux Operating System (OS)

Isolating server from wide area network
I have a small network in my office. It connects to the internet via a

switch connected to the uplink port on the Linksys router and have 3
machines connected to the Gigabit switch.
All is well with the network and internet connections.

Home Network on XP Help
This is probably a no brainer.
I have 2 machines networked through a netcomm modem router.
The home network used to work.
Now my machine will not see the network or its own share folder, the 2nd
machine does.
I was printing to the printer which is connected to the LPT port on the 2nd
machine and suddenly I could not print and the network seemed to have
disappeared.
I have run ...
