Problem with importing files
I get this error message every single time...
" C:\videos\Cell vids\In VCD Mpeg\Birds.mpg could not be imported.
Unspecified error "
I have created some movies before without any problems...now I get this
message all of a sudden...How do I get around this?...

No Picture in monitor when playing the timeline. Help please
Hello all.
I have used Moviemaker a few times before and have never experienced this.
I have captured some clips from my camcorder and put them in my collection.
When I play each individual file from collections it will appear in the
monitor, when I drag them into the timeline and play from there the screen is
blank. I can hear sound but no visuals.

Can't save movie files
I keep getting the following message:
"Windows Movie Maker cannot save movie to specified location. Verify that
the original source files used in your movie are still available, that the
saving location is still available, and that there is enough free disk space
available, and then try again."
All of the above are OK, the files are there, the location is OK and 70GB
should be enough...

MPG or other media file to big
Hi Folks,
I have what seems like a major problem to me, but will no doubt be easy for
you experts out there!
I have a movie file on my hard-drive which is 1.6 mega bits. I would like to
copy this to a disk and play it on my dvd player. The problem is I can only
use disks which are no more than 700mb and I would like to copy this file and

Can't Save Movie but Could I With The Vista Version?
I have a very large project I completed. About 800 jpg pictures, each with a
transition. Each picture is set to play for 2.5 seconds with a transition of
..5 seconds. The entire show is about 40 minutes and the entire show is set

Disable Movie Maker
I use my PC for editing. I use AVID Express Pro for my editing application
and every time I turn on my deck to capture a tape Movie Maker starts up.
It's a pain to have to shut it down all the time. I'd like to send it away
permanently! Ideas?...

Program not opening
When I try to open Movie Maker I get the following pop up "Windows Movie
Maker can not be used because the required audio hardware cannot be found on
your computer". Does anyone know what this means? I have used Movie Maker
for three months and have never had this problem?

WMM Error Message
I continually get the following error message when trying to make videos:
Microsoft Visual C+ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\ProgramFile\MovieMaker\moviemk.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate in a very unusual way.

LOSSES IN CUTTING/PASTING DV?
I understand that when I transfer DV directly from my videocam, I have an
exact copy on my computer of what I had on tape.
If I use WMM to cut & paste, (resequence) portions of my original DV, and
then save the finished movie back to computer in DV-AVI format, are there any
losses involved?
In other words, does WMM simply copy the portions from the original DV file
to the 'final' fil...

What file type should I use?
I have read several topics on this sbject including the very informative
articles by Graham Hughes but I'm still confused.
I'm using a Desktop with 250GB HD, 1GB Memory, DVD Burner & firewire cable.
If I capture using DV-AVI and check the box for "Create Clips when Video
finishes" the system doesn't break the file into clips as it does when I
select WMV. The unedited tape is about 15 mi...

Video sticking
I have searched this forum but can't find a similar issue.
I saved my video from my Sony SRI to the hard drive of my PC as mpeg 2 files
and subsequently created a movie. Everything is fien at this stage and the
preview looks good. Then when I render the file as a DV AVI file for playback

I've been building a movie with about 100 pictures, audio, etc. I've gotten
through the initial problems, but now I've got a black screen when I preview
the storyboard. the audio is working fine and the timeline progresses

Codec Problem, PLEASE HELP!!
Okay, so I cleaned out my computer about a week ago, then I go to import a
video file in Windows Movie Maker and it says:
[File name] cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file
is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and
