DirectX runtime install failure
I'm trying to upgrade to the latest version of DirectX. From the Download
Centre, the 9.x runtime install starts, but blows up before downloading
anything. "Please try later".
Any ideas? Thanks....

Uninstall KB936357 in Winxp : causing STOP 7E on bootup
Hello,
After downloading KB936357 from Microsoft (this KB patch supposedly
makes a microcode reliability update. However it causes one of our
WinXP boxes (Pentium 166) crash with a STOP 7E on boot up. I need to
manually remove this patch from recovery console. How do I do this?

Stand By button is greyed out and disbled
Win XP SP2. When trying to Turn Off Computer the Stand By button is greyed
out and inoperable, so you cannot place computer on Hibernate either. The
other two buttons Turn Off and Restart do appear and work well.
Start-> Turn Off Computer -> Stand By (Non-operable) - Turn Off - Restart
How can I fix this. I looked at the KB but could not find a solution.

Backup Scheduling Problems
I am unable to get my scheduled backups to run. HELP!!!!
I am using Microsoft Backup in Windows XP Professional with an HP
Storageworks DDS3 tape drive.
I am able to do manual, (backup now), backups just fine.

Files - Cannot Save
Hello,
I have Windows XP home edition, for some reason I am not able to save
any files (whether they are new or editted). It will not allow me to

Cannot boot to windows, computer constantly resets

Access denied to All Users directory
While logged in on an administrator account on Windows XP I ran a full virus
check and several files in the c:\documents and settings\all users\documents

XP Reinstall Gone Awry - \i386\ntkrnlmp.exe Error
I tried to reinstall XP on my Inspiron 8600 and all I succeeded in doing was
nuking my computer.

My Music Files
I'm copying CD and LP tracks into MyMusic for future use in radio station
live-assist automation. I can not edit or use the Artist column; just can't
open it. The track title and artist and any other data has to be entered
under Title.
It must be something simple. What am I missing? I need to copy or enter the
performers in the Artist column for proper sorting. XP-SP2; Roxio9.

Send to menu Mail Recipient guidance needed
I'm trying to help a friend who uses XP. I can't give you the Build version
if that matters. He wants to use the Send to right click menu to send files
to email. If he follows all the submenus, he gets to one requesting an
Outlook profile. He doesn't have Outlook, only Outlook Express. I am

help! no http connection, but other protocols okay
I have three computers on a network -- one of the three has lost the
ability to connect to web pages via the http protocol. Ping, email,
chat, ftp, localhost and https just fine, but I get no connection for

Win XP and SATA Drives
Hi,
Owing to a disc crash, I now have the following set up:
- Gigabyte Mobo K7 series
- 2 SATA drives (1 Seagate 320Gb (New) 1 Maxtor 300Gb(Old))
- plus the normal components.
- IDE Drive in the bin.
I want to install a fresh copy of Win XP Home onto the New SATA drive.
How do I do this as Win Xp does recognise the SATA drives???
F6 says load new drivers for the SATA/SCSI/RAID what 1???

Upgrading from sp1, to sp2
I did a "repair Installation" because something went out of wack. When i did
so, it took me back to SP1. I then installed all the updates, and when i
tried to install sp2, it freezes when trying to isntall my geforce 6800
drivers.

Help me!
I have just tried to copy my C drive onto a new 400g external hard drive
using norton ghost.Not only did it not copy,i can now not find my G drive
icon(the external drive) in my computer,it used to be there,can anyone give
me any idea where i can find this!.
It is showing up in safely remove hardware has working properly,but because
